VILLAGE OF METAMORA
Election – reminder to vote Tuesday, November 8
at the Fire Station. Two residents on ballot running for Village Mayor
position; Ken Wysong and Gary Loar. Two council seats up for election; those
running incumbent Karon Lane, Carl Pope Jr. and two write-in candidates
Krystal Posner and John Hudik. Follow directions on ballot for write-in
voting if you want to vote for a write in candidate. Good luck to all
candidates!
Park Levy – a new 5-year 1/2-mill levy will be
on November’s ballot. If levy passes the revenues generated will help with:
establishing a park fund, operating and maintenance costs of park and
support recreational improvements to reservoir property. Homes valued at
$100,000 would pay $15.31 a year for ½ mill levy. Please vote yes for your
park! The village recently removed a 2.6 mill water levy; this should help
make the new levy less of a hardship to taxpayers.
Electric Aggregation Program – will allow the
village to enter into service agreements for lower service rates. Persons in
the Aggregation Program will have the opportunity to opt-out of the program
at least every 3 years without paying a switching fee. If approved by the
majority of the voters, council will hold (2) public hearings to offer
additional insight on program benefits.
Leaf Pick Up –leaves will be picked up on
Mondays starting October 31st through Monday November 28th.
Please have leaves raked no closer than two feet from curb. No sticks,

street. Leaves should not be raked around mailboxes, poles etc. Leaves
should be raked the night prior to scheduled pick up dates to avoid being
missed. Please do not park next to leaves on pick up days.

will pick-up branches placed neatly next to the curb, preferably cut in 4 to
6-foot lengths. Please have branches to road by 7 a.m.

Thank You- The Gleaner South Fairfield Arbor
made a donation to the village park by planting a 6’ Elm Tree. A dedication
ceremony was held in the park August 6 including presentation of a “Memorial
Plaque” to council president Cheryl Geer. What a generous and long-term way
to support our park. They also partnered with the Liberty Tree Society to
plant a 14-20’ Liberty Tree Memorial in our park at a later date. The
Liberty Tree is America’s first symbol of Freedom.
Funding Request – Village Council recently
joined with Amboy Township Trustees to file an Issue 2 application
requesting funding assistance to improve the road way and ditch on Road
2/Parker Rd. Council renamed sections of County Road 2 in Village limits to
Parker Road.
